Sun July 18 We made it to JAARS this afternoon with no issues. We did a little food shopping for the week and got settled into our apartments. The kids actually found time to get a little fishing in at the lake across the street. We had our first team dinner and now everyone is getting ready for bed. Tomorrow will start out bright and early with a team breakfast and devotional followed by a tour of the JAARS facilities. We anticipate getting started on our apartment renovation project in the afternoon. Keep all of us in your prayers. God Bless,Tim
Mon July 19 We have had an awesome first 2 days up here at JAARS. This morning when we walked into the Townsend building for our tour we were greeted by our first names from one of the most interesting and God honoring ladies I have ever met, Beth. (This totally shocked us, especially the kids, they just couldn't figure out how someone could remember all those names) It was like she had known us for years and treated us each like we were the most important person in the room. After hearing some of her story it was clear that she was just treating us the way Jesus would. She is a volunteer here who puts in more hours than I do at my paying job. Already I have been stirred inside to examine my life at home and rethink my so called priorities. Man what an awesome place, a neat way of life, and a great example for living for Christ. Thank you Lord for this opportunity to serve these people. Matt Campbell
Tues July 20 Coming on the JAARS Mission trip has been a humbling experience, wondering “How can I come to serve here?” I just love God’s love that is so evident everywhere here... A little bit of heaven on earth! We are in day two of restoring two apartments that had water damage. God has shown me that he has given me more talent than I’d ever thought.... I can “paint”! We have met so many wonderful people here that are missionaries or have been in the mission field abroad and serve here now. I praise God for the opportunity to serve at JAARS! I love being here @ JAARS... the peace of God is all around us, it is AWESOME!!! I thank God for the opportunity to serve on this JAARS Mission with the Tim, Lisa, Delaney, Eli, Matt, Chrissy, Tristan, Michael, Mary Kathryn and Seth. God has a purpose for everyone and we were suppose to be together. “Lord, I want to be here... show me the way!” Ellie Newberry
Thur July 22 It’s our 4th day here at JAARS, and every day has been an amazing revelation of what God is doing through JAARS and Wycliffe. We have heard story after story of miraculous ways God is working in the lives of the missionaries we have met who are committed to making God’s word available to every tribe, tongue and nation. We are also seeing God at work in the lives of our SCC team. We have such a super group, each willing to do their part (and then some) to complete our project and to express our love of God through service at JAARS. Every morning, one team member is responsible for leading our devotional. Each person has done a wonderful job of sharing their heart and speaking about a specific topic and scripture that God has revealed to them. I can’t think of a better way to start the day, and I’m so proud of our group for stepping up. One of our devotionals, led by Matt Campbell, made reference to being a lighthouse – without saying a word, we can all be beacons of light that can show the way to Christ by loving others through our service. What a perfect analogy for our team’s mission this week! Thank you, Lord, for such an awesome team and for all the extraordinary people of JAARS who have shared their time, their homes and their stories with us. Lisa Denton
Fri July 23 I can’t believe it’s Friday; I think I’m speaking for the whole team when I say I’m not ready for this trip to be coming to an end. This has been an amazing, humbling and such a peaceful week! JAARS truly has the friendliest group of people I have ever met. We have experienced so much in this one week learning more about JAARS and why it’s so important for the missionaries to get God’s word translated into the different tribes’ vernacular (heart language). I have truly enjoyed being a Mary sitting at the feet of some amazing missionaries hearing their stories and learning how God has used them to further build his kingdom. Chrissy Campbell I would like to thank everyone who has made this trip possible for our family through prayers and financial support. I would also like to thank this wonderful team I’ve had the pleasure of serving with.

Dr. Rick Grover and his family moved to the New Orleans area during the summer of 2001 with a vision to start a new church. It has required much prayer, research, planning, and hard work for the dream to become a reality.
After the devestation of Hurricane Katrina, it became obvious to all involved that God had placed Journey CC there for such a time as this.

Since its founding days, ACC's primary function has been to prepare young people for ministry. Savannah Christian is one of the school's strongest supporters. Three Savannah Christian pastors, including Senior Pastor Cam Huxford, are ACC alumni. A four-year, accredited Christian college, ACC receives no government funds. Therefore, it is solely dependent on the contributions of churches and individuals for its operational costs. In turn, ACC has partnered with Savannah Christian in prayer support for our ministry, missions and staff.
